Understanding will help us do our jobs more effectively.

In any conflict situation, a thorough understanding of the impact of gender will allow PSO personnel to better respond to individual and community needs, plan more appropriate responses, and meet mission objectives. It will also prevent us from accidentally doing harm, and increase the possibility of sustainable peace.
Module 3: WHY GENDER MATTERS
Goals
  • Participants will understand that gender (including gender differences, roles, responsibilities, and inequalities) is a fundamental dimension that should be considered in planning PSOs (i.e., that gender matters);
  • Participants will understand that an awareness of the gender dimensions of conflict and recovery will enhance their capacity and improve the effectiveness of PSOs.
